Jacki is a Kenyan fashion designer with a multicultural family background of the Luo and Kikuyu nations. The diversity in the two cultures influenced the founding of her fashion brand, Akinyi Wambui, in 2017, Akinyi being a common girl’s name in Luo and Wambui being a common one in Kikuyu. Akinyi Wambui designs are inspired by the importance of a woman’s mental wellness.

As a brand, Akinyi Wambui Kenya embodies the need for human unity in fostering mental wellness for women. In addition to designing apparel, the brand also provides skills development for fashion entrepreneurs and has worked closely with various youth programmes, including those of the National Industrial Training Authority Kenya, Youth Entrepreneurship and Opportunities Programme of the World Bank, and Bahati Fashion and Design School.
